The year is 1929 and some interesting things have happened so far. In January, we found out that a new comic strip character was here, his name is Popeye and I have a feeling that he is going to be a hit. His comics are so funny and like nothing I have ever seen before. In February, something bad happened though, you know the gangster, Al Capone right? Well he was in charge of this thing called the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. Who wants to hurt people on Valentine's Day? Its suppose to be a day of love. Seven people died that day, I really do not like talking about this event because it was such a bad time for us. Back to the good things now, there is this thing called the Academy Awards that started this year, I am not really sure what it is exactly, all I know was that mom and dad were happy when their favorite actor won something, I thought that was pretty cool. Maybe they will have another one next year and I will understand it more. Oh and my dad just got this thing put in his car, its a radio, like the ones we have in our homes but now we have one when we are driving around! How cool is that? I can't believe someone thought of something that cool. Another really bad thing happened this year and we are still going through it. Mom and dad told me that not many people have much money right now, something about the stock market crashing (Whatever a stock market is) They said that it may last a while and that we are going through a Great Depression. I am not sure what all of that means but I know it can't be good when my mom and dad are worried about it. I will get back to you if anything else interesting happens!!
P.S. I really hope that we get more money soon because I really want to go see another Popeye comic strip soon!!
